Band practice tonight, second of the week. Nice. Hopefully we’ll be pushing on with a couple of new songs. Both very different in style and meaning.

The first, which is almost finished, is called ‘I, The Ventriloquial Figure’ which discusses feelings of anxiety and depression and the ultimate plan and partial success of breaking free from those boxes – based around the themes of Vaudeville entertainment.

Next is another Kent legend song based upon a tragic love story which culminates, as alot of our songs do, in the death of everyone in the story. The tale takes us down the Thames, past North Foreland and out to the treacherous Goodwin Sands, dated 1748.

The two different takes on the hulk songs are still in the ‘work in progress’ stage.

We think our new songs are becoming more interesting, intricate and involved. Perhaps not instantly engaging like our older songs, they may require 3 or 4 listens to get into their slipstream. But they are, ultimately, infinitely more rewarding. At least that’s what we think…

Over the next couple of months we’ll be demoing some new songs both in a proper studio and at home; so expect lots of recordings to go up over time.

Til next time!
